Our bed bases have been specifically designed to be used on traditional brass, iron and wooden bedsteads.
These slim bases are incredibly strong, even though they are just 2 ½ inches deep. This shallow depth avoids covering up the beauty of the headboard, and also achieves an overall acceptable height from the floor to the top of the mattress.
Although slim bases are the most popular, if you desire a deeper base or prefer a sprung base, we can do this also.
HOW ARE THEY MADE?
Our handmade bed bases are constructed of a pine frame, which is then slatted, covered with a ventilated firm top which is slightly padded and then finished in a natural cotton striped ticking or a top quality cream Damask, matching our range of mattresses. The larger ones are folding to allow easy access up the stairs and into the bedroom.
HOW ARE THEY FITTED?
The bed base sits on top of the metal or wooden side rails of your bed. The corners are chamfered on the underside, so that they clear the area where the side rail attaches to the headboard and footboard. It is stabilised with adjustable small blocks. These locate on the underside of the bed base at each corner, positioned so that they fit snugly up against the inside of side rail.
