Early on in Jonathan Tebbs love affair with Victorian and Edwardian antique bedsteads,
Originally, antique brass and iron beds used to have a box spring base twinned with a feather mattress. Due to their age and condition, these are no longer suitable. A well made modern bed base with a good quality pocket sprung mattress gives a luxurious feel, without losing the authenticity of the bedstead.
he discovered that many of these had unusual measurements,
so there was a need for a made to measure mattress and bed base service for brass, iron or wooden beds.
